What’s On Our Bookshelf This Month-January 2024, Part 3

Today’s book list is straight to the point- I’m trying to squeeze writing in between diaper changes and during overlapping naps which doesn’t give me much time!

I’ve already shared the nursery picks and what the older girls selected for their bookshelves this month, so today we are focusing on Lettie’s room. She is 2 and loves every single book on her shelves right now. She loves to look at books independently while I fold laundry or feed the baby. She also will read books to wind down at night after her older sisters go to bed. She still takes a nap and I’m willing to have her stay up an extra 20 minutes to keep that precious nap time during the day.

Scroll down to see the books Ellette has in her room right now.

Here’s what they have on the shelves right now:

  • I’m a Big Sister - I brought this book out about 2-3 months ago to help give Ellette some examples of what having a new baby at our house would look like. We have a few other books with similar content, but this is the one she wanted in her room.

  • Giraffes Can’t Dance - I loved this book when I was younger and my children are equally as obsessed! I actually have most of this book memorized. We read it A LOT!

  • The Going to Bed Book - I find this book so charming and the perfect fit right before bed.

  • Moo, Baa, La La La! - Lettie loves animal sounds, so this had to make the cut this month.

  • Richard Scarry's Busy Busy People - This has been a fun one to talk about recently. I sometimes like to just chit chat with Ellette for a few minutes before bed and hear her thoughts, so this book can spark some good conversation.

  • I Hear a Pickle - I think she mainly likes the giant pickle on the cover, but this is a good book to talk about all of our senses.

  • Alphaprints: 123 - This is a fun book. All of the Alphaprints books are interesting and Ellette loves the texture of them.

  • Little Hands Love - All of my kids still love this book. Simple and short, but sweet.

  • Dear Zoo - Classic for a reason. This book gets a lot of laughs!

  • Mommy, Do You Love Me? - Another favorite in our house, but this one might be harder to locate. Snag it if you can find a copy.

Ellette still has board books almost exclusively in her room. This is so necessary for her, especially with some of the independent time that comes along with having a new baby in the house.
