What’s On Our Bookshelf This Month-January 2024, Part 1
We are currently in a newborn bubble with the early arrival of our fourth daughter, Amma. I am planning 1 blog post a week for the next month as we get acclimated to being a family of 6, but we will see how the weeks treat us. I’ve been focusing on resting as much as possible, and that has meant slowing down a bit the last few weeks of my pregnancy and especially now that I am postpartum.
I asked on Instagram if seeing our bookshelves was helpful to you, and the answer was a resounding yes! I try to rotate books each month for the kids, so this type of post is definitely doable for me right now. Thanks for the sweet comments and I hope you find this series helpful.
We have bookshelves in all 3 rooms for the kids (Brinley and Vaila share right now) and we keep a book basket in the living room. Can you tell we like books? Today we are focusing on Amma’s room and these are some good picks if I do say so myself.
When I rotate books every month I like to include themes, especially around holidays. In the nursery right now I have included some books that I personally enjoy reading to a baby (some get boring very quickly before babies can interact with the book much) as well as some books that the older kids like. This helps keep the older kids occupied during feeding times and helps us connect as a family at bedtime. We always sing a song and read a book as a family at the end of the day and rotate which room we are in. Having enjoyable books in all of the rooms helps everyone feel included.
Here’s what we have on the shelves right now:
Comment below which of these books you have or are planning to buy. Any favorites that I should check out? As always, every click or purchase from a link I provide is much appreciated. Be sure to check back here on the blog as I add our book bin and the bookshelves from the other two bedrooms! There are some good picks in all of them.
Here are the books we have up in Ellette’s room this month. As she transitions to being a big sister and stays up a few minutes extra, we selected books she could read quietly when necessary. Read the full post for all of the picks for this month.
